Lungarni, historic buildings and "la Spina" is a walk along the contemporary banks of the Arno river, the fourth longest in Italy, to discover the history of the most beautiful and famous buildings that overlook it, including one of the most spectacular churches towns: “La Spina”.

It is that Romanesque-Gothic jewel called Chiesa della Spina, in honor of a thorn from Jesus' crown, brought to Pisa by the first crusaders of the Maritime Republic. La Spina was built as an oratory with the aim of protecting an ancient bridge connecting via S. Maria with Via S. Antonio. The bridge, however, collapsed during the 15th century and was never rebuilt.
